Roast Anything!

Last week marked the beginning of Christmas holidays for our Bible College. We always host the music students to a Christmas lunch at our home.  Because a number of the students are from out-of-town and haven’t tasted too much home-cooking for awhile, we always ask for their input when choosing the menu.  One young lady, when asked what she liked, piped up and said, “roast anything!” so that’s where we started and wound up with “roast everything” – beef, ham, potatoes, garlic and brie cheese – plus a few salads.  It was fun to watch the young people enjoy the festive spread.
In the past few years we’ve made it our practice to take the students to a neighbourhood care home to sing following our lunch together. We want to help cultivate generous attitude in these young folks and help them live out James 1:27 which says:  “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”

Greeting the seniors after singing some Christmas carols!

Be sure to share your love, time and gifts with some older people this Christmas.  You may be one of the few visitors they see, and it may be some of the most meaningful time you spend in this busy season. And if you open your home to young people who are on their own, remember “roast anything” will likely be greatly appreciated!

Three more days!
God bless you!
Anne
